Graduate Power Electronics Engineer

How do you plan to engineer the green revolution?
Do you have what it takes, and you would you like to contribute significantly to the success of a growing Electronics team?
Our offer to you, at Lyra Electronics, is an environment where you can do this.

As a graduate engineer, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting edge power electronics rotating through a selection of engineering teams, including Electronics, Software, Mechanical, Systems, Projects and Test Facilities (EMC and environmental).

About the role
As a Graduate Power Electronics Engineer, your primary purpose is to contribute to the design and development of power electronic circuits for cutting-edge power converters. Your contributions will feed into multiple high technology projects.

You will benefit from a rotation-based training scheme where 3 months will be spent in each engineering department to broaden your knowledge. In this time, in addition to spending time in the electronics team you will have the opportunity to contribute and learn about:

Mechanical design: Use of Solidworks CAD, CFD and Finite element analysis to design and simulate converter mechanical assemblies.

Systems engineering and Projects: Requirements capture, project planning and test specifications.

Software Engineering: Writing software in C to control high voltages and high current converters.

Test Facilities: Planning for and running commercial EMC and environmental tests for customers in our new test laboratory.

Main Duties and Responsibilities in the Electronics Team

You will take ownership for your own tasks and will endeavour to deal with issues using your own acumen. You will be encouraged to Integrate your own methods and ideas to deliver the company’s technical innovations and be given opportunity to grow, learn, and be guided by experts in the field.

You will join our dynamic team where collaboration and initiative drive success. As an integral member, you'll thrive in a supportive environment where your expertise in electronics will be valued.

As part of your job role, you will collaborate effectively within cross-functional engineering teams, contributing meaningfully to a cohesive work environment where individual input is highly regarded. Demonstrate proficiency in electronics fundamentals, including an understanding of electrical safety standards, while taking ownership of tasks, proactively resolving issues, and communicating effectively with the Project Management team.

Engage closely with a diverse range of projects within a close-knit team structure, designing systems and circuits aligned with internal and external requirements. Develop electronic schematics for various components, encompassing power electronics and control circuits, and facilitate PCB layout while conducting circuit simulations, acknowledging inherent limitations.

Craft specifications and interpret requirements, adhering to project timelines, and assist in product documentation, including design notes, bills of materials, and user manuals. Engage directly with customers, occasionally providing on-site support, and exhibit self-motivation in problem-solving endeavours.

Specify microcontrollers and designing associated circuitry. Utilize electronics simulation software such as SPICE, PLECS, SIMSCAPE, or PSIM, demonstrating proficiency in electronic CAD software like Altium or Eagle.

The role will be hands on, working at high voltages (<1.2KV) and high currents, understanding the use and limitations of lab test equipment and instrumentation. Leverage experience with DFMEA methodologies and basic programming experience in C to contribute effectively to our team's success.

Join us in shaping innovative solutions and make a significant impact within our collaborative team environment.
